Fits: all Porsche 997 phase 2, including GTS.
The principle of a catalytic converter: reach high temperatures so the exhaust acts as an "oven" and triggers the process that cleans the gases before the atmosphere. Since the 987 phase 1 and this 997 phase 2, the converters have moved up the line for hotter air: manifolds and converters are now a single part per bank of 3 cylinders, so one pair per car (originally, 2 converters per side).
Our version harmonises the flow sequencing through the manifolds and optimises efficiency through the converters. The consequence: a sound improvement for a car that will go down in Porsche history as the quietest - a shame, because it has a fabulous voice. Fitted with our valve system: a fine sound in closed position, compatible with any situation, and in open mode a new car, with a sound on the edge of racing under acceleration. One of the finest of all air-intake Porsches... but that is subjective! Read below what equipped owners say.
Fitting
- Strictly original interfaces (inlets, outlets, dimensions): direct replacement, no modification
- Mount under the car, between the engine and the transverse muffler
- Before removal, unplug the 2 Lambda sensors at the connectors and remove them once the manifold/converter units are off
Also in our range
- Standard 400-cell catalytic version - Reference: SCA 997-2 1 1 (on request)
Description détaillée
Description détaillée
These 200cc sports manifolds/catalysts fit:
> All 997 phase 2 including GTS
The operating principle of a catalyst is to reach high temperatures so that the exhaust "ovens" and can trigger the catalyst process to "clean" the exhaust gases before they return to the atmosphere. Since the 987 phase 1 and this 997 phase 2, the catalysts have been moved up in the exhaust line to have hotter air. The manifolds and catalysts are now only one piece per bank of 3 cylinders. So a pair per car. Originally on these 997 phase 2, there are 2 catalysts per side. Our version allows both to harmonize the sequencing of the flow by the collectors and to optimize the efficiency by the catalysts. One of the consequences is an improvement in sound for this car which will remain in the history of Porsche as the least noisy. And it's a shame because it has a fabulous sound. If these manifolds / catalysts are mounted with our valve system. You'll get a beautiful sound in the closed position that will be compatible with all driving situations. And in open mode, you'll have a new car with a sound bordering on racing when accelerating. One of the most beautiful of all Porsches with air engines, but that's subjective! Read below what equipped Porsche enthusiasts have to say about it, it will give you a few more insights.

> A standard catalyzed version at 400cc - (Reference: SCA 997-2 1 1) on request
Our exhausts all have the original interfaces, meaning that their inlets, outlets and dimensions are consistent with the original part. They can therefore be fitted in place of the original part without any modification.
These catalysts are mounted under the car between the engine and the transverse muffler. To remove the original catalysts, it is recommended to disconnect the 2 Lambda sensors at the sockets and remove these sensors once the catalyst manifolds have been removed.
The average installation time, including removal of the original exhaust, for this exhaust is 3 hours. Installation time may be faster if the exhaust to be removed is in good condition, but it may be longer if it is not.
Using a lifting platform is essential. Recovering the original lambda sensors is not always easy; plan to replace them or be able to purchase new ones if necessary.
Tightening the nuts should always be done gradually across all the nuts.
To ensure that all our manifolds/catalysts are fitted in the best possible conditions, we include in the price of this exhaust a fitting kit with gaskets, stainless steel screws, all-stainless steel lock nuts and high-temperature copper grease.
