Fits: all Porsche 993 with an original Gillet-type catalytic converter.
Two types of catalytic converters were fitted to the 993. The Bischoff, the most common, has oval inlet pipes and two inlet flanges at 45° to the converter. The Gillet has round inlet pipes and flanges at 90°. We offer every variant for both types.
This by-pass has no catalytic converter: it replaces the converter with better flow and a markedly sportier sound, with an 8 hp gain over a stock 993.
Regulations: French regulations require the converter to be retained: this version will not pass the French roadworthiness test (contrôle technique).
Adjustable flange included for a stress-free fit.
Fitting
- Strictly original interfaces (inlets, outlets, dimensions): direct replacement, no modification
- Mounts under the car between the manifolds and the mufflers in the rear wings. Average fitting time: 2 hours including removal. Lift essential
- Before removal, unplug the Lambda sensor in the centre of the converter (easy access). It can rarely be reused: be ready to replace it
- The 3 bolts on each inlet flange are often seized: apply penetrating oil well in advance
- Tighten all nuts progressively; fitting kit included: gaskets, stainless bolts, stainless lock nuts, high-temperature copper grease
Also in our range for Gillet converters
- Standard 400-cell catalytic version - Reference: SCA 993 2 1 G
- Sport 100-cell catalytic version - Reference: SCA 993 2 2 G
All these variants also exist for original Bischoff converters.
Description détaillée
Description détaillée
This bypass catalyst is mounted on:
> All 993s with the original Gillet type catalyst
There are two types of catalysts originally fitted to the 993. The Bischoff type is the most common, it has oval inlet tubes and its two inlet flanges are at a 45° angle to the catalyst. The other type, the Gillet, has round inlet tubes and the two inlet flanges are at a 90° angle to the catalyst.
This exhaust is not equipped with catalysts. In France, regulations require the catalyst to be retained for the MOT test. This version is therefore not compatible with the French MOT test. It allows the catalyst to be replaced, providing better flow and a more pronounced sporty sound. The power gain is 8 hp compared to a stock 993.
We also have in our range for Gillet type catalysts:
> A standard catalyzed version at 400cc - (Reference: SCA 993 2 1 G)
> A 100cc sports catalyzed version - (Reference: SCA 993 2 2 G)
We also have all these variants for the original Bischoff catalysts.
Our exhausts all have the original interfaces, meaning their inlets, outlets, and dimensions are consistent with the original part. They can therefore be installed in place of the original part without any modification. We have an adjustable flange for stress-free installation.
The catalyst is mounted under the car between the manifolds and the mufflers in the rear fenders. To remove the original catalyst, it is advisable to disconnect the Lambda sensor located in the center of the catalyst, as it is easily accessible. The 3 screws on each side of the inlet flanges are often difficult to remove, so plan to loosen them in advance. Using a lift is essential. Since the recovery of the original Lambda sensor is never guaranteed, plan to replace them or be able to buy a new one if necessary.
The average installation time, including removal of the original exhaust, for this exhaust is 2 hours. Installation time may be faster if the exhaust to be removed is in good condition, but it may be longer if the opposite is the case.
Tightening the nuts should always be done gradually across all the nuts.
To ensure that all our exhausts are fitted in the best possible conditions, we include in the price of this exhaust a fitting kit with gaskets, stainless steel screws, all-stainless steel lock nuts and high-temperature copper grease.
