Frequently asked questions

The questions our team gets most often - lead times, international shipping, sound, fitment, pricing.

What are your manufacturing and delivery times?

Every SCART exhaust is handcrafted to order in our workshop near Paris, ensuring a perfect fit and finish. Lead time is usually 3 to 5 weeks from receipt of payment. We do everything we can to keep that window as short as possible. For custom or one-off projects, a dedicated development and installation package is available. We keep you posted at every step of your order.

Do you ship internationally? How are VAT and customs duties handled?

We ship worldwide, and how VAT and customs duties are handled depends on your delivery country:

  • France & European Union: prices are tax-inclusive (VAT included), with no customs duties.
  • United Kingdom, United States, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UAE: prices are tax-inclusive (local VAT), and any applicable customs duties are calculated and paid at checkout. Nothing extra on delivery.
  • Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia: prices are listed excluding tax; local import VAT and any duties are paid by the recipient on delivery.

Good news: our exhausts are of French/EU origin, which qualifies them for preferential duty rates (often 0%) under most free-trade agreements.

What's the difference between Sport, Super Sound, Riva and Ultima?

Three families and one umbrella name. The Sport range sits between stock and Super Sound - raw, expressive, always civilized. Super Sound is the umbrella name for our most expressive non-valve range; depending on the model it takes shape as a Riva (deep, guttural, the heritage of vintage 911s) or as an Ultima (twin-tone without any moving parts, driven by pressure differential). All our systems also come in valve versions for the best of both worlds: discreet with valves closed, roaring with valves open. Not every model receives every variant - for example, no Riva on the 991, no Ultima on the 997.2. The best path forward is to talk: tell us about your taste and how you use the car, and we'll guide you to the right configuration.

How does the Ultima deliver a twin-tone sound without valves?

The Ultima is our technical tour de force: a twin-tone sound without any moving parts. At cruise, exhaust flow passes through a baffle that softens the note - you drive discreet. Under acceleration, rising pressure in the muffler neutralizes the baffle and routes gas straight to the outlet. The result: sound is decoupled from engine RPM. At a steady 5,000 rpm on the motorway you stay discreet; at 3,000 rpm under load, the exhaust sings. Bonus: zero rockwool inside our mufflers - so no acoustic ageing over time, which is the hallmark of our new-generation mufflers.

Why the name "Riva"?

The Riva name comes from Martin's teenage fascination with Riva boats, discovered in a documentary at age 15. That signature names our non-valve exhausts with the deepest, most guttural voice. On the early 911s especially, you hear that signature warble and noble presence that made the air-cooled flat-six legendary. It's not a boat sound - it's clearly a Porsche sound, but with the depth Riva evokes. The Riva doesn't apply to every model: it exists only where the engine architecture lends itself to that signature (for example, no Riva on the 991).

How do valve exhausts work and how do I control them?

Our valve systems give you two cars in one. Valves closed, you keep a discreet, near-stock note with the SCART signature texture layered on top. Valves open, the sound is unleashed - deep, aggressive, ferocious, the voice of a race car.

An important detail: our valves sit inside the muffler, not as a direct outlet under the car. A direct outlet produces lots of decibels but no acoustic depth - and depth is what makes the beauty of the sound. Every Scart valve muffler actually contains two acoustic paths inside the same box: one built for sound, one built for restraint. The valve switches between the two.

The standard control is a discreet switch fitted into the door sill trim, included in the exhaust price. Two upgrade options: a pair of remotes (€145 incl. VAT), or the original Porsche switch-bar control kit (€340 incl. VAT) for seamless integration - supplied with its wiring harness that removes the automatic shutoff between 45 and 75 km/h on applicable models.

Do you offer discounts or instalment payments?

We run a single annual promotion: Black Friday, with −15% across the entire catalogue. It is the only promotion of the year. For an instalment plan, feel free to reach out - we look at each request individually.

Do you offer an installation service?

Yes. We fit our exhausts at our workshop near Paris, with the same artisans who built them. For a valve system, plan on €700 for the fitting and one full day. If you'd rather have it installed closer to home, every exhaust ships with a complete mounting kit, and we have a network of partners in France and abroad - we can point you to the nearest one.

How does SCART guarantee the quality and durability of its exhausts?

A French specialist in high-performance exhausts for over 20 years, we hand-build every system in our workshop near Paris, with master artisans. Our philosophy: respect the soul of the original engine, and elevate it through sound and material quality. In-depth R&D, premium stainless and noble alloys, careful finishing - that level of commitment is what lets us back every exhaust with a 10-year warranty.

How can I track my SCART order and know its delivery status?

Upon receipt of your order, we process it with the utmost care. For international deliveries, particularly to the United States, we transmit all information to our local agent who prepares your package and provides us with the shipping label and tracking number. We will communicate this information to you as soon as it is available. Although our initial production and delivery time is 6 weeks, we strive to reduce it to 4 weeks when possible. We will keep you informed at every step.

What key components equip your systems and what benefits do they provide?

Every SCART exhaust ships with a complete fitting kit: new fasteners, gaskets, copper grease, everything needed for a clean, durable install. On valve versions, the full pneumatic system is included in the final price, with no add-ons.

What characterizes the SCART sound?

For over twenty years, we've been hand-building exhausts for Porsche with one obsession: capturing the raw, metallic sound that defines the brand's engines. The Sport delivers a rough note that never tips into excess. The Riva and Ultima go further - deep, powerful, they turn the car into a pure emotion machine. The fairest way to judge is by ear - all our sound videos are available on scart.com.
